Hi, regarding the first item in changelog for 14018:

  • While using navigation on toll roads, there may be frequent announcements of "Toll road ahead " with poor voice guidance quality.
Does anyone have improvements for this? I am on 14012 and hoping the new update can turn this off completely. As there are plenty of toll roads on my way to work this is not a nice feature. When the lady in the car cries out for "Toll road ahead" she also mutes any other type of sound, i.e coming from radio, carplay or even a phone call conversation. So listening to my favorite music on the way to work when passing the toll road cameras, kind of ruins my morning. Thought I would get used to her somehow, but after 1 year I only get more annoyed each day. Guess I am turning more grumpy by age aswell.

(BTW: this is definitely not the NAVI lady speaking, is there any other situations this particular lady would raise her voice? Would not like to hear her anymore...)

I have previously asked the official Mazda dealer in the region about this "feature", without success. They suggested it was some setting in the NAVI, but they could not pinpoint to where this could be changed..

@ASH8 : I've sent you a message and I would be grateful if you could send me the latest update.

@ASH8 - Also sent you a private message for the latest update.
My local dealer did not do the update 2x times... I even said that I have connectivity problems with my phone.
They always tell me that I get all the latest stuff while being at service, but not for the entertainment software ;-(

Yes, OTA is rolling out now in North America and EU/UK.
You must still be subscribed to Connected Services/ MyMazda App, depending on age of car you may have to manually update Connect Firmware to latest and in other Model Mazdas you will have to update TCU Driver, Mazda 3, CX-30, CX5 and 9 with 10 inch display, CX-50, MX-30. The CX-60 does not need to update TCU.
Make sure you go into screen setting and check the over air update box thingy.
OTA updates are always smaller files than standalone I supply..but in the end still the same Version.
Could you please send me the firmware update for 2016 Mazda Cx5 ?

Thank you so much 🙏🙏🙏

Thanks @ASH8 . Update process worked perfectly for me going from 14016 --> 14018 on my Australian CX-60 PHEV. I used a FAT32 formatted 256GB USB-C flash drive for reference.

Can't say I've noticed much of an improvement in DPS facial recognition. In my experience, the most influential factor in DPS working is sequencing and speed in which you get into the car. It seems to work best when you unlock the vehicle, get in immediately without delay, then door closed and seat belt on before ignition. I really think a simple bit of re-programming on Mazda's end to leave the camera in 'detecting mode' for longer would make it so much more user friendly. My theory is that is not an issue with detecting faces, but more the sequence I've described above not being followed.

I find it quite insulting selling vehicles in Ukraine with software intended for Russia...
Please check with ASH8 if he can provide a link. If not - I think that I might be able to download it directly from Mazda's Independent Operator Portal.
Слава Україні!

I agree but it's a non eu country, I have a download to try tomorrow from ASH8, currently under drone attack by the Russians

Update completed, I bought a USB-C dongle specifically for the update but it can only be formatted Ex-fat and NTFS, so not recognised by the car. I eventually used a 4GB USB stick and a Samsung USB-A to USB-C adaptor, this worked perfectly. Many thanks to ASH8 for the files, the driver id system has worked perfectly 3 times in a row, but only time will tell.

4th time failed, said hello to me, didn't move my seat and switched to guest, so it's a complete failure of the driver ID system

I found that the best way to deal with this system is to turn it off :) You can then hop in the car, turn on the engine and go, like in the good, old days of (mostly) mechanical cars. It was a nice gadget at first, but even though it would recognize me every time, it was just taking too long to move the steering wheel up and down etc., when I'm in a hurry I have no patience for that.

Yes, it is turned off again now, occasionally my wife drives the car so it would have been nice if it actually worked and could adjust the seats for both of us.

Use the Seat Memory buttons for that (i your car have them). There are 2. You can set one for yourself and one for your wife. If I am not wrong also the steering wheel and mirrors will adjust.
