Given the number of posts about CX-60 faults, I thought it about time we focused on the positives.

So, what do you like about your car? What flicks your switch or tickles your fancy?

No miserable sods please 🤣

1. Rotary controller and buttons!
2. HUD is big and wide
3. 12 inch centre display is really good
4. 360 cam is of really good quality
5. Even though the headlights look small, I love the brightness comes from those.
6. Loved the small interior light projected to centre console, so easier to see buttons and everything while driving.

Generally, I value the improvements over my previous (20 plate) Mercedes E350D AMG Line Premium Plus.....

1. Much more comfortable than the Merc's sporty seats. I no longer suffer from cramp in my knees.
2. Far better equipped, HUD, Radar Cruise Control, I-Activsense etc.
3. Better ride (no low profile tyres thudding over every minor bump), yes I have got the superior factory fitted shocks.
4. Easier parking, the Mazda cameras are much superior (the Mercedes had Park-Pilot - far too scary!).
5. Incredible economy and lower costs (here, I include purchase price compared to the equivalent Merc PHEV).
6. Real leather and luxury, not faux leather and black plastic pretending to be 'premium'.
7. Far better all-round vision.
8. It doesn't look a black taxi - Soul Red Crystal - I haven't noticed as many heads turning since I sold my Italian Racing Red Jaguar XJL. It has a real road presence - looks more like a Bentley Bentayga than a BMW.

Your Merc had runflats.

Surely this is about comparing vehicle ride and not about comparing tyre types? Fact, Mercedes factory fitted low profile run flats and Mazda didn’t. Fact, the Mercedes ride was consequently horrible (glad you concur) when the Mazda ride isn’t, but then I do have factory fitted replacement Mazda shocks.

However, you argued that wasn’t yet possible, hence why I made further enquiries of Mazda. You can’t resist denigrating any positive comments on this forum. Frankly, I accept that your PHEV car was a lemon, which is so very unfortunate for you. But if it was so bad, why didn’t you reject it instead of inviting more trouble by switching to a diesel? You are entitled to your opinion, but please accept that your poor experience isn’t common to everyone.

Did you not read the title of this thread? What do you like about the CX-60? “No miserable sods”….

@Southeastern I have the same thoughts, why went for diesel after this real bad experience?
I suppose you definitely was hit with the depreciation cost while selling your PHEV, but why diesel again?

Not an owner yet, another 14 hours to wait, but during my test drive two weeks ago (in a Homura), I gave top marks to the HUD and performance under hard acceleration. Great driving position and more than enough space, even in the back which had been a slight prior concern. Interior quality was outstanding and hoping for even better in my Takumi.

It is known in the family here as the "Beast"...lol....it does turn heads in this Soul red colour....when you do need to give it some safe overtaking requirements....it always obliges..always.
Interior quality is on a par with my ex Q5 and my ex Volvo XC40....and to manoeuvre this beast is so simple, still trying to get the wife behind the wheel to understand how easy this thing is to drive.
Thought long and hard about pros and cons and looked at other cars.....I had like anyone a choice of many cars, however, a few minor cons like many other vehicles out there do not spoil the feeling I get when I get into it...LOVE IT

1. Overall a very safe car for my family.
2. Homura machine gray also turns heads a lot!
3. Interior, bose speakers, panoramic brings in a lot of light, face recognition driving position memory is great as my wife also drives the car.
4. It moves pretty good for a 2.1 tonne car.
5. I would call the suspension pretty comfortable and soft (Unless you push it)
6. Reasonably quiet at high speeds.

I’m thrilled with mine too, collected her last Wednesday and, like Oxonian, still have well over half a tank of fuel. Not brand new, 1800 miles, registered 30th Dec, used by one of the dealership directors. Has the revised suspension and all software updates. Driven on motorways and country lanes, currently not a single complaint, hope it remains like that. The big test will be driving to Greece in the autumn!

To Greece......that will certainly be some test! Can't wait to hear how it goes.

I am finally beginning to like my CX-60. But only after the car spent two days at the dealer.
  • The 12 V battery problem is solved with updates to electrical management system
  • Mazda is able to let the gears “learn” how to behave. This was done in the garage and gear switching is now much smoother and less abrupt
  • And a pleasant side-effect: the oscillating vibrating sound has gone!
  • Mazda is also able to re-align the sensors of the Active-sense cruise control. Also this was done
  • My doors have been given extra insulation (no more tin sound)
  • The tow bar was clumsily fitted, but is now working okay
I like the interior (Takumi), i like the seats, i like the driver personalization (adapted to my settings), and it recognizes me well.
The amount of petrol and electricity are OK for me (5,3l/100 km, 25,5 KWh/100 km)
Sound of the radio is excellent.
I have tried Android auto and it works OK (my wife does not like it, so we don’t use it).
Color is fantastic.

So all in all, I am finally becoming satisfied with the car.
Next week will be the test as a caravan towing vehicle, when we go to France with our caravan.

Did a 600 mile journey across UK the past weekend.
Liked:
  • averaged 38mpg on Petrol alone (I couldn't charge in between as most service stations only had the instavolt DC charging)
  • it definitely got the pace and love it when accelerating away from roundabout.

New issues:
  • A creaking sound when turning slowly, probably suspension
  • driver side mirror wobbling. On rough motorways/Aroads driver side mirror got this wobbling issue.

Disliked:
  • if EV is not engaged and when accelerate hard after a roundabout, the engine feels really rough.
  • High road noise in motorways
  • Fuel tank is really small, maximum I could get is 260 miles from petrol alone with full tank. May be I have refuelling issue?

Changed to a black houmora CX60 on May 16th, cannot stop admiring the vehicle, it is stunning to look at and drives brilliantly. Is the ride firm, yes , but no more so than the Volvo xc60 i changed from with their poor google infotainment system.
I do wonder sometimes if forums and faults go together and resonate problems or at least minimal issues into potential significant problems.
Achieving 52mpg after 490 miles.

I agree it's not a bad looking car and the mpg is straight double of what I was getting from my q7 - it does have issues though and some very basic features that are missing - mine is at the dealers now having some of its problems sorted - I'm going to get a Clifford alarm fitted that will get me remote start, global opening/closure and the ability to open the car from the app, I might swap the shocks and springs over but to be honest the ride is slackening off the more the car gets used. What's the black like to keep clean? I've got the soul crystal red and it needs washing about twice a day 🤣🤣🤣

Some things i really like:
  • Sports mode - hard brakes, AT downshifting like crazy - that is some adrenlin stuff for a people moover  .
  • Sports / Off-Road mode - late brakes, full send into a turn, let the suspension, AWD and torque do the work, love how playfull it is for such a heavy car.
  • Fun on snowy roads.
  • Weight distribution of the car - neutral chracteristics when driven hard.
  • Performance ad sportiness of the car in general.
  • PHEV Engine sound.
  • Fuel economy (7.0l/100km & 23kWh).
  • EV in town - it's "effortless feel" while driving in town traffic.
  • BOSE.
  • Headlights.
  • Look that is turning heads (Machine gray Homura).
  • 360 cameras
