The ISSUE:
CX-60 Power Liftgate (PLG) cannot be opened while still stuck in an ajar position or fully opened- or closed.

The CAUSE:
Improper control software of the power liftgate (PLG) control module.

The FIX:
Reprogram of (PLG) Calibration File to the new updated one with MDARS Dealer Diagnostics.

TSB NUMBER: R101/22 of Feb 10th 2023.

VIN Ranges of CX-60s in need of the Calibration Update, (Last 6 Digits).
100001 to 121077 Japan Production Dates from Mar. 15, 2022 to Dec. 13, 2022

Applies to ALL Europe and UK sold models of CX-60 only.

Some CX-60's may have already been updated prior to this TSB date @ Mazda Dealer during normal servicing and can not re-produce this issue, if the case then please ignore this bulletin.

IF you are having this PLG ajar issue then I doubt the Software was updated, obviously if you are having this problem with Tailgate then the fix is very simple and requires no removal of trim or replacement of any parts, just the F15 fuse removal to perform the TSB Update with Mazda Dealer MDARS.
There is no other way to update this PLG Module, contact your Mazda Dealer if you are having any ajar issue with your cars rear Power Lift Gate.

All fixes are covered free of charge under existing Mazda New Car Warranty program. This is a software glitch, your car may never have a problem with PLG... It's not a recall, this is a TSB Dealer notice incase they see issues.

Well IMO it all depends on how good the (your) Dealer is, personally IMO a good tech/mechanic while draining say old engine oil during service and on hoist should plug in MDARS and check for any updates, but most don't unfortunately.

One day not too far off future models/cars will all be fully automatic updates. Mazda are already monitoring the CX-60 powertrain data remotely when in service...which is a good thing.

Any repairs and parts cost the dealership occur in time and then to Mazda to rebate Dealer for parts replacement and or the labour time cost.
So it has been Mazdas and most car brands policy that the owner should/must complain of a problem and then any fix is done once you complain. Very few issues are preventative unless something catastrophic or a personal bodily safety recall issue.

What I suggest if you want car updated is to complain next time in for Service that your PLG 'sometimes' does not fully close, and you are aware of a software update by Mazda. Now you maybe telling a white lie or you maybe not... I would even quote this TSB number above, that way your Dealer can't brush you off.

When I say a Dealer will or may brush you off, most of the time mechanics don't actively read these TSBs, they again wait until a complaint happens, so he may say I have not heard of any PLG problems to you , well he won't if he does not look it up, by you the owner telling him the TSB number you are actually helping him.

Picked up my new CX60 Homura today and was told that the boot kicker option has been factory disabled on newly delivered models because too many people were being injured when it swings up. Can’t find any reference to this elsewhere. Is this true?

No, that's a lie. There is a shortage of semiconductors and the sensor for the kicker option is not available and on backorder.
