CX-60 Homura LPG Conversion

464 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Southeastern
Living in the Czech Republic and just got my CX60 Homura (first registered Sept 2022).

LPG here is half the price of petrol.
Anyone know if an LPG conversion is possible on this car?

I was able to get it on my previous vehicle and it saved me a fortune on fuel.

At moment here even electric is pretty pricey at 8Kc (about €0.35) a unit so not a big saving running on electric instead of petrol. LPG would make a big difference to me.

Any help appreciated!

Hello, almost every gasoline and even diesel engine can be converted to LPG. The question is how much it will cost in the end. The conversion of a Škoda Fabia to LPG costs 1000€, but Škoda has indirect injection. Mazda has direct injection, which is why the conversion would cost more than 2500€ if you want it to be of high quality. Someone might do it for you cheaper with a gasoline add-on, but the savings will be lower.
I have seen converted CX5 or Mazda 6 with a 2.5L engine running on LPG, so it definitely works. However, it's worth considering that the CX60 is a brand new car and if a defect occurs, it may be difficult to have it repaired under warranty. You may save €1500 on LPG, but repairing it outside of warranty could cost you €3000 or more. Is it worth it? It's probably better to replace your PHEV with a diesel.

For me, driving solely on electricity in the city costs around €4.50/100km.
My fuel consumption is 7.5L/100km. However, I enjoy driving and using the engine's power. I also added 265/45 R20 tires, so if I were concerned about fuel consumption, I could drive more economically. But if I'm worried about fuel consumption on a car that costs €64000, something is wrong.

If I wanted to save as much as possible, I would buy a new Dacia Duster on LPG.

You have a car that has almost 250kw, so enjoy it or sell it.

And one more thing occurred to me. Take €2000, which would cost the conversion of the CX60 to LPG, and buy solar panels for the roof of your house. You will be able to charge for free and even save on household consumption. I assume you live in a house because if you live in an apartment, you should not have bought a PHEV.
This is certainly something that @Noah4x4 and his insurance colleagues would frown upon
