A week with the cx60

I'm well into buyers remorse with this car, I wish I had done a 48 test drive- if I had I would never have bought it - its a bit crap - as soon as I'm half way through payments its going - only 103 weeks to go
There's actually very little about the car that works correctly or is designed well - 1st and last dip into Japanese cars for me.

That's sad to hear!

What model have you bought?

What specifically isn't working?
3.3 diesel homura
Doors hollow and cheap
Human centric camera doesn't work
Suspension way to hard for an suv
Can't roll windows up or down from fob
Can't unlock doors from app
Radio doesn't cut when reverse sensors come on
No reverse/front sensors on corners so only warns front and back wheels not covered
No wash jet on front or rear camera
Sound from bose system disappointing
Poor cornering even for a suv
Panoramic roof is a con it opens about 6 inches
No keyless on back doors
12v battery warning constantly coming on
Engine cleaning constantly coming on
Had 2 engine warning lights in a week
Interior showing wear after a week
Car is noisy in the cabin
The ambient lighting is invisible

Apart from that it's OK

That must be terribly disappointing. I suppose some of the issues you refer to are 'features' (or lack of), which aren't really a fault, but others you mention are 'well known' such as the lack of soundproofing and the suspension.

Definitely worth reading through other threads to see how people have had them rectified.

A few things

1 - Doors have option free of charge sound proofing that removes the tinny noise and provides extra insulation (told you this yesterday)
2 - There is an update for the DPS camera system on the diesel which will fix the issue
3 - Yes, the suspension is atrocious. Koni are bringing out a solution for it in their Special Active dampers, but are taking their time
4 - No idea why this is a big deal, but hey ho (more feature that problem no?)
5 - No idea why you would want to but hey ho (more feature that problem no?)
6 - You can change this in Mazda Connect
7 - Never had a car with what you describe, so haven't had the luxury of this
8 - Agree, the camera is useless in rain and snow - there is an official camera cleaner, but has to be imported from Japan, its around £120
9 - Bose is a traditional BOSE sound, which is laid back and natural, I imagine they chose this to fit with their intended 'zen' ethos of the car
10 - Yep its not great - again part od the terrible dampers and spring matching
11 - Yes complete con, its rubbish
12 - Yes, long term issue , I and many others have the same, waiting for a solution
13 - Yes, incredibly frustrating, my neighbours complain. I uploaded you a document about it on the other forum you posted on yesterday (ive uploaded it to this thread also)
14 - Sucks but sure its fixable by dealer
15 - Yes, 1000 miles in and the drivers seat already shows wear and stretchs and I'm not a heavy person
16 - Yep, its noisey on the motorway, same as the PHEV
17 - You can adjust the ambient lighting up in Mazda Connect

Realistically though, you'd need to spend around £10-12k for a Q5 Vorsprung or BMW X3 M40D , more considering the discounts on the CX60, around £13-15k realistically, so you have to work out if its worth it to you.

For me, I wouldnt buy the CX60 again either and would buy a used one of the above instead. However, the depreciaition on these cars is so huge, I am stuck with it now, so have to make the best of it.

My plans for it

Koni Special Actives which will sort the ride out
Pirreli Scorpion All Season Noise Cancelling Tyres which will help ride and noise
Sound proofing of floorpan, wheel arches and boot to reduce cabin noise

Yea I'm going to get it sound deadened and get modules fitted for the window rollup along with a remote start alarm that will open close the doors from the app - just working up to spending another 2k after just parting with 48k

Can I ask why the window opening and app based door opening is £2k important? Curious!

Yea mines fitted with sound proofing in the doors and trunk area - its still horrible
My vin not on camera recall it's had the update
And ambient lighting is set to max
Windows roll up and down from fob nice on a hot day walking up to car to vent it
Open car from fob I've had my amazon guy making deliveries to my car boot for years
Plus if someone is at your car in the rain or rough area would be nice to let them in

Already did
2k is for sound deadening about 500/600
Window roll up 4 window 300
Remote start alarm with app about 800/900
So 1600 on good side 1800 on bad dide

I'm confused, the sound proofing wasn't done yesterday you said, and now it is. Don't for a second believe your dealer if he has told it was 'done at the factory'. I can 99% guarantee you it wont have been on a car thats been recently delivered.

The boot has no sound proofing at all. I'm doing this manually.

If your camera dosent work, then there is a service bulletin for it - this is not part of the recent recall

I can see my ambient lighting fine, but its subtle as the ethos of the car - 'zen', its not a disco.

Your remote functions desires seem a bit bizarre to me but if that's what you want, then go for it. Sounds like youve leased the car though, thats a lot to invest in a car you rent. Have you leased it?

Have you actually read through this forum yet? lots of these topics are covered here.

£600 to sound proof the floorplan and boot? Christ, they are taking you for a ride. £300 realistically. Kimat is £62 to do most of the car, so then a days labour.

Dealer fiited you also back trunk door?
The doors and trunk floor have it - we checked only the drivers door but presume the rest of the doors are the same - came like that it hasn't been back to dealer.
Also looking at having stiffeners fitted to the doors as they flex horrendously when opening

Can you take a photo of the boot floor for me? Aside from the little anti resonance material thats painted over, theres no sound deadening there and none on the workshop manual spec, so I would love to see yours.

Probably too much to ask to see the doors - they do have anti resonance material in there, but its not sound proofing. If you have the tinny door noise, then its not been done, as when its done, that no longer exists - ask ANY owner and IVe had two of them :)

Literally last evening you said the car had no sound proofing and wanted the TSB to have it done, then 10am this morning its got sound proofing. Sorry, sounds bizarre.

Neither have, I'm going to do the floor and the wheel arches to start with, and see how it goes from there. The polystyrene tool holder thingy comes out easily, so its fairly easy to do and it will give me an idea over results to be expected doing it elsewhere.
