After losing almost all my Sunday, finally I managed to update the Maps to version 23Q1 from 22Q4.
But very strange!
I've tried 3 times and failed to update. Each time failed exactly at the end (at final step) with a message like: "The Map data is corrupted. Please re-run Mazda Update Toolbox."
Strange that when reopening MapUpdateGlobalAdv the APP seemed to show that version 23Q1 is on the SD Card, but corrupted and suggested Update. Obviously the card didn't work in the car, not recognised.

3 times!!!! :(:(:( I also reinstalled the APP twice. No luck!

Finally - and thinking that anyway I need to see the Dealer in Dec for my 1 y Service - I've delete the whole card Data - Attention only DELETED and Not Formatted !!! - and copied the backup version I have made when I've done the first Maps update. This was the version the car came with (21Q1).

Then run again the APP MapUpdateGlobalAdv, which recognised the card as genuine now and running version 21Q1 (no issue), and suggested to update to the latest version 23Q1.
Done that (4th time! but this time from 21Q1 to 23Q1). And now I have the Latest version 23Q1.
But full bloody day lost with this

P.S. I was doing this on a MacBook Pro running MacOS Sonoma. What could have been wrong with the latest Mac and latest OS ... 🧐 ...
If I would have bothered looking for the old HP, still running Windows ...
I think the solution is much simpler. After two failed attempts to update the maps (exactly as described - a "Map data corrupted" message at the very end) followed by identical failure to back up the SD card, I figured that all this mess might be connected with how the toolbox interprets the action of moving/copying map files from folder in computer to the SD card ("copy file" or "move file"). Thus for the third attempt to back-up/update the card I closed all folders related to the toolbox and the backup/downloaded new version of the map. And - voila, both back-up and then update of the map went smoothly, without any issues.
My car is CX-30 MY2024 but the toolbox and the updating process is the same as with CX-60

FYI aussies, to reiterate info from Ash above. Do not click links for map updates from mazda.com.au, they are linking to the 'Mazda Update Toolbox' which does not work in Australia. The app that works is called 'MapUpdateGlobalAdv' (catchy name huh) and is available at the link provided in the PDF attachment above.

I had previously had the correct app installed, got a new computer and was wondering why the update no longer works - I had the wrong app.

FWIW, Swedish mazda.se links correctly to 'MapUpdateGlobalAdv.exe'.

SEE MY SECOND POST REGARDING CHEAP ONLINE PURCHASED SD CARD WITH NAVIGATION, THESE ARE ALL COUNTERFEIT CARDS AND IF PUT INTO "MAZDA TOOLBOX APP" THE CARS VIN WILL BE LOCKED OUT or BLOCKED AND WILL REQUIRE NNG TO UNLOCK THE CARS VIN.

ALL ONLINE SOLD NAVIGATION SD CARDS ARE COUNTERFEIT UNLESS PURCHASED FROM A MAZDA DEALER PARTS DEPARTMENT (or CAR CAME WITH NAVIGATION).
IF YOU BUY A GENUINE NAVIGATION SD-CARD FROM A MAZDA DEALER AND THE CAR NEVER CAME WITH NAVIGATION YOU MUST CONTACT NNG TO GET YOUR FULL VIN ADDED TO THE DATABASE.

OR YOU COULD GET THIS MESSAGE IN MAZDA TOOLBOX APP, or similar License Message.
If you have proof of purchase you can contact NNG to unlock VIN piracy@nng.com

I have a 2025 CX-70 MHEV complete with “Mazda Online Navigation” (Build date 6/24)
So, after reading through this thread, is it safe to assume that there is no way to update my maps and that they are updated as needed in real time even though I have an SD card?
Looks like as of today (03/2025) I have 24Q4. Is this correct?

Actually not. By "online navigation" Mazda means that you receive traffic information in real time from the Internet. The actual map data is not updated over-the-air. You can update the map data for free, by downloading Mazda's Update Toolbox (マツダ コネクトナビゲーションシステム 地図データ更新ツール) on either Windows or Mac and use it to update the SD card contents.
Not according to @ASH8 ‘s post #1. He states that the “2025 CX-70 + 2024 MX-5 Mazda toolbox is not available at this time”!

Last time I checked you can't update as it is what they call a Hybrid Navigation System, this info like in first post is from MNAO.
I don't make anything up.
Same for 2025 MX-5.

Suggest you contact either MAZDA US or your Dealer and ask what is the story, I think Maps are supposed to auto update via Connect Via Public Servers.

Sorry, I responded without fully considering your case, with which I'm not very familiar.
Mazda has never been particularly strong with OTA updates, and I'd be quite surprised if they chose to push hundreds of GBs of data to thousands of vehicles over-the-air. Still, markets vary, and the situation in the US might differ from what we experience in the EU.
You could also try the Toolbox to see if it recognizes your card.
